Getting started with Blackboard: Integration With Other Systems
This guide details how Blackboard integrates with other IT systems. All data on Blackboard is derived from other University systems; any errors must be corrected at source. More detail on each system and how it integrates can be found below.
QLS holds students’ personal information, attainment and enrolments. This information is used to enrol students on their programmes and modules.
The HR database contains details of members of staff.
ICT (Active Directory)
The data in QLS and the HR database is passed to ICT for an account to be created in Active Directory. This username and password is used to log in to Blackboard.
APMS contains data on all programmes and modules at the University. Each year the sites on Blackboard are created based on this data. Module
Talis-Aspire is a reading list system. Reading lists are created and automatically added to the modules Blackboard site.
There are links out of Blackboard to external services like the portal, email system, timetable, printing, the library etc. Note: These systems are not connected and can be accessed without the need to log in to Blackboard.
Turnitin is a 3rd party system which is used by students to submit their work
