Utilising the Rubric Templates on Turnitin

This helpsheet explains how you to customise the rubric templates on Turnitin to match your module handbook criteria.

  1. Create a Turnitin submission point

ACCESSING THE RUBRIC TEMPLATE:

  6. Click ‘View Available Rubric and Rubric Options’ in the top left-hand corner (blue square icon)
  7. Select one of the ‘TO MODIFY’ rubrics from the drop-down.
    • One is a 17-point scale for UG modules whereby you can grade each student using one of these scales for each Learning Outcome element
      • The scale for each LO goes 0,18 30,38,42,45,48,52,55,58,62,65,68,72,78,87,100
    • Another is a near-identical one but for PG modules (reflecting the differences in names for the grade boundaries)
    • And another is a non-calculating rubric that is just a visual representation of the rubric in the module handbook
      • This has the categories 0-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.
    • Click again the ‘View Available Rubric and Rubric Options’ in the top left-hand corner (blue square icon)

CUSTOMISING THE RUBRIC:

  2. Click ‘Save’
  3. If needed, increase the number of Learning Outcomes using the ‘+’ icon next to the Criteria (top right)
    • If needed, reduce the number of Learning Outcomes using the ‘Trash Can’ icon (this can be seen by hovering your mouse over the criteria)
  4. Replace the ‘PASTE IN LO DESCRIPTION TEXT FROM MODULE HANDBOOK’ text with the Learning Outcome descriptions from your module handbook.
  5. Click ‘Save’
  6. Replace all the ‘PASTE IN DESCRIPTION TEXT FROM MODULE HANDBOOK’ with text from your module handbook.
