Turnitin: Academic Integrity

13:00-14:00

Description

The process of upholding academic integrity is a natural part of the marking and feedback process. The Turnitin tool provides academic staff with three investigation tools which produce data that may be used when deciding whether not a submission should be escalated through the investigation process. In this session, we will explore the three reports available in Turnitin: the Originality Report, the AI Report, and the Authorship Report. Attendees will explore the data produced by these reports, interpreting and challenging their outputs, to gain a better insight into how the data could be used during the marking and feedback process.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this session you will be able:

  • To be aware of the models and detection processes used by Turnitin.
  • To compare the three academic integrity reports in Turnitin.
  • To explore existing data within your own modules, programmes and discipline.
  • To analyse and critique example academic integrity scenario data from Turnitin.
