Outline of the session:   

This session will take a teach and try approach to planning and creating a range of learning activities that enrich students’ experience both synchronously and asynchronously. We will consider the importance of aligning synchronous and asynchronous tasks, discussing possible task combinations, before moving on to the practical element in which staff will have the opportunity to practice the creation of these activities within their chosen tool(s). We will then discuss and practice the importance of embedding these activities within a VLE with clear signposting and instructional language. 

Learning outcomes:   

• To identify approaches and structures that support the incorporation of engaging synchronous and asynchronous activities into your teaching and learning. 

• To practice and develop skills for building interactive content within your chosen digital tool(s). 

• To demonstrate the clear and effective presentation of a combination of synchronous and asynchronous tasks within a VLE.
