About
Blackboard is the University of Lincoln’s virtual learning environment, which provides a digital hub where staff and students can access a range of resources such as their course materials, reading lists, assignment submission points, and a range of interactive and integrated digital tools.
Blackboard Module ‘Sites’
All curriculum modules have a dedicate module ‘site’ which is create ahead of each academic year. In addition, Blackboard module sites can be used for online discussions, formative and summative assessments, managing grades and making announcements.
Blackboard Ultra Course View offers a streamlined, more intuitive interface and is designed and optimised in the knowledge that students will be accessing on a whole range of devices.
From the 24/25 Academic Year, all modules delivered at the University of Lincoln will have their site in the new Blackboard Ultra format.
Importantly, this is Blackboard’s latest version of the VLE, and therefore Blackboard Ultra receives regular monthly updates with features and improvements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best way to present learning resources on Blackboard Ultra?
Ultra Document pages enable you to share a combination of different pieces of content in one place. Documents can be used to share files/documents within the page, and provide a space for text, images and embedded tools to be linked together to create learning activities for the students.
Since all of your resources are collected in one area, this makes navigation for the students much easier and also looks less cluttered within Blackboard compared to having an item for each piece of content. This is the best way to share your PowerPoints, files, videos, and links with appropriate contextualisation and instruction to transform these items into powerful learning activities.
To see examples of how Documents can be built, structured and formatted, see the guidance information built into Ultra templates in the area: ‘Blackboard Ultra guidance and support for Staff’.
